Amanda Macias
BBS Ph.D. Student
Amanda A. Macias is a first-generation Ph.D. student and Biomedical & Biological Sciences Fellow at Cornell University. In her first year, she received the Cornell University Graduate School Dean’s Scholar award for demonstrating a strong commitment to academic excellence and advancing aspects of diversity, access, equity, and inclusion in the academy and other communities. Amanda has been awarded the 2023 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship, a significant national accomplishment placing recipients among an elite group of Fellows. She is conducting graduate-level research on how bile acids and insulin impact fertility in mares with metabolic syndrome in the Donnelly Lab. Her research training in reproductive biology began at California State University Long Beach as a Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement Undergraduate Fellow. Amanda graduated in 2021 with a B.S. in Molecular Cell Biology and Physiology.
